Self-drive a quad bike for 30 minutes across Al Khatim mega dunes, 80 km from Abu Dhabi, as part of a full evening desert experience. The experience

You'll be picked up from your hotel and driven out to Al Khatim desert, where the real activity starts. The camel farm comes first: a chance to walk around, feed the animals and take photos before you get on the quad bike. Then you take the handlebars for 30 minutes of self-drive riding across the off-road terrain. The dunes here are open and rolling, nothing technical, so it's the speed and the space that make it feel like an adventure rather than a lesson.

Once you're done riding, the evening settles in. You'll watch the sunset from the mega dunes with tea, coffee and dates, then head to the Bedouin camp where the rest of the group is waiting. A belly dancer and Tanura dancer perform while you eat a BBQ dinner with unlimited soft drinks, water and hot tea. You can wear traditional Arabic dress for photos, get henna applied, smoke shisha, and take a selfie with a falcon. The night ends with 10 minutes of stargazing before the drive back to the city.

A licensed, trained safari marshal stays with the group the whole time: handling the dune-bashing portion in a 4x4 and keeping an eye on things during your quad bike ride. The vehicle has roller protection and is insured. Children from age 4 can come along. If a child wants to ride the quad bike, a double-seat bike can be arranged so an adult rides with them.
