You’ll get to ride through golden dunes, meet camels up close, try sandboarding or quad biking if you’re feeling bold, and unwind with local food and live shows under the open sky. It’s a real taste of Abu Dhabi’s desert life—easygoing but full of surprises.
The city faded behind us as we drove about 55 minutes out—suddenly, it’s just sand and sky. The air felt warmer here, dry but not harsh. Our guide, Ahmed, cranked up the radio with some local tunes and pointed out the shifting colors in the dunes. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot a few camels grazing near the roadside before you even reach the camp.
Dune bashing was wild—honestly, I gripped the seat tighter than I’d admit. The driver knew every dip and curve; you could hear the tires crunching over the sand while everyone laughed or squealed. We stopped at a high point for photos—wind tugging at my scarf, that faint scent of cardamom from someone’s flask nearby. The view goes on forever at sunset.
The camel farm was quieter than I expected. You can actually hear them chewing if you stand close enough. After a short ride (they’re taller than they look!), we tried quad biking and sandboarding—sand gets everywhere, so don’t wear your best shoes. Later at camp, there were dancers—belly dancing and a spinning tanoura show. I got a simple henna design on my hand while sipping sweet tea. Dinner was a buffet; nothing too fancy but plenty of options. If you want a drink, they’ve got alcohol for extra.
Yes! Kids can join all main activities—there are infant seats available and prams are welcome. The camp is family-friendly.
Just wear comfy clothes and closed shoes (sand gets everywhere). Bring a light jacket for evenings—it cools off after sunset.
You can buy alcoholic drinks at camp for an extra charge; no need to pre-book.
