The experience

The safari starts with pickup from your hotel and a 4x4 drive into the golden dunes, where you get behind the handlebars of a quad bike and ride across the sand yourself. After that comes a camel ride and sandboarding down the slopes, with a stop to photograph the desert sunset. The pace lets you catch your breath between activities instead of rushing through them all at once.

At the desert camp, you settle into VIP seating where Arabic coffee, dates and soft drinks flow freely. A henna artist works while you watch live entertainment: Tanoura spinning, belly dancing and a fire show. Dinner is a BBQ buffet with meat and vegetarian options, and the evening wraps around 9 or 10 depending on sunset timing that day.

The 6-hour shared tour without ATV covers everything else (camel ride, sandboarding, camp activities and dinner), but you skip the quad bikes. Both run the same length and include all other activities and entertainment.

Do I need any experience to ride a quad bike on this tour?

No prior experience is required. The quad biking happens on the desert dunes as part of the activity rotation, and the guide and staff will brief you on how to operate the bike safely before you head out.

What time does the safari end, and how do I get back to my hotel?

The tour runs for 6 hours total, ending around sunset and dinner time in the evening. Your drop-off back to your hotel is included in the price, so the driver brings you home after the BBQ finishes.

Is the BBQ dinner suitable if I'm vegetarian?
