The experience
The route moves through five protected areas over ten days, each one built around a different wildlife encounter. You start with an hour on foot tracking rhinos at Zziwa Sanctuary: a working conservation site where the near-extinct population has been brought back. From there the tour swings north into Murchison Falls National Park for two days of game drives across savannah grasslands where buffalo, elephants, giraffes and lions spread across the landscape, then a boat trip up the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth where hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds gather at the water's edge. The middle section takes you west into the rainforest: chimp trekking in Kibale Forest with a ranger-guide, where you spend an hour in the presence of the primates once located, then the centerpiece. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where the trek itself can run 4 to 8 hours depending on where the gorilla groups have moved, but once you find them you get a full hour watching them in their habitat.
All transport happens in a well-maintained 4x4 with a pop-up roof for wildlife viewing, and your driver-guide stays with you the entire ten days. Accommodation is at lodges near each park, with en suite rooms and meals included throughout. The itinerary builds in flexibility: on some days you can choose the order of activities (game drive first or accommodation first), and optional evening drives are offered when time allows. The final day includes a guided morning walk in Lake Mburo with an armed ranger, then the drive back to Entebbe airport with a stop at the Equator crossing for photos.
This is a private tour, meaning the vehicle and guide are yours alone (minimum two travelers required to book). All park entrance fees, activity permits (including the gorilla trekking permit and chimp tracking permit), and bottled water on safari are included. You'll need a valid tourist visa for Uganda, which you arrange before departure, and a moderate level of fitness for the forest treks, particularly the gorilla trekking day.

Top questions
What's the gorilla trekking experience actually like in Bwindi?
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park starts with a ranger briefing on forest safety and behavior guidelines. You then enter the dense rainforest on marked animal trails, hiking through steep terrain that can take 4 to 8 hours depending on where the gorilla groups have moved that day. Once a group is located, you spend a full hour observing them at close range in their natural habitat. The forest itself is dramatic and heavily forested, crisscrossed by the trails that make access possible.
How much time do you actually spend watching wildlife versus driving between parks?
The tour dedicates full days to game viewing: two full days in Murchison Falls with morning and afternoon drives, a morning game drive plus a 2-hour boat trip in Queen Elizabeth, a full day of chimp trekking in Kibale, the gorilla trekking day in Bwindi, and a morning walking safari in Lake Mburo. Travel days between parks are built in, but the itinerary prioritizes wildlife time over driving time, with scenic routes through villages and tea plantation countryside.
Do you need to be very fit for this 10-day tour?
You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The gorilla and chimp trekking days involve hiking through rainforest terrain on uneven ground, which is the most demanding part. The game drives and boat trips require no special fitness. Travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health are not recommended for this tour. Minimum age is 15.
What's included in the price, and what costs extra?
Included are all park entrance and activity fees, the gorilla trekking permit, chimp tracking permit, rhino tracking at Zziwa, ground transport in the 4x4, accommodation with en suite facilities, all specified meals, bottled water on safari, airport pickup and drop-off, and the English-speaking driver-guide for all ten days. Not included are your international flight, Uganda tourist visa, personal travel insurance, phone calls, bar bills, laundry, and any meals or drinks not listed in the itinerary. Driver gratuity is recommended but optional.
Can you choose which parks to visit, or is the route fixed?
The route is set: Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, and Lake Mburo. However, the itinerary offers some flexibility within each park: on some days you can choose whether to do a game drive first or check into your accommodation first, and optional activities like evening game drives are available when time allows.
