The experience
You're met at Entebbe airport and driven straight into the forest: the journey to Bwindi Rushaga Sector takes around 8 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle with your guide. If your flight arrives late, you can stay the night in Entebbe instead and start fresh the next morning. Either way, you reach Rushaga Gorilla Camp for your first overnight.
Day two is the gorilla trek itself. You're at the meeting point by 7am for a briefing, then head into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on foot. After the trek, you return to the lodge to rest, then transfer to Lake Mutanda Resort for the night. Day three brings the golden monkeys: after breakfast and a transfer to Mgahinga National Park headquarters, you get a second briefing on the trekking formalities, then set out to find and observe the golden monkeys. Lunch is back at the hotel, and you stay another night at Lake Mutanda.
The final day is the drive back to Entebbe. You'll have a stopover at the equator on the way, breaking up the return journey before your flight home. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language throughout, and the vehicle has WiFi on board and a restroom.

Is this one for you?Four days is the minimum needed to trek both gorillas and golden monkeys without rushing the treks themselves. The long drive from Entebbe takes up day one and day four, leaving two full days in the parks. If you have more time, a 6-day version would add rest days or extra wildlife viewing. If you have less, a 2-day option focuses on gorillas alone.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
What's the difference between trekking gorillas in Bwindi and golden monkeys in Mgahinga?
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is where you trek mountain gorillas on day two: a trek on foot through dense forest. Mgahinga National Park, visited on day three, is where you track and observe golden monkeys, a different species and a different terrain.
How much of the 4 days is actually spent driving?
Day one is the 8-hour drive from Entebbe to Bwindi. Day four is the return drive to Entebbe with a stop at the equator. Days two and three are based at lodges near the parks, with treks and transfers between them, but not long-distance driving.
What time do I need to be ready on the gorilla trekking day?
You need to be at the meeting point by 7am on day two for a briefing before the gorilla trek begins. Breakfast is at your lodge before the transfer to the forest.
Can I arrange to sleep in Entebbe the first night instead of driving straight to Bwindi?
Yes. If your flight arrives late or you prefer not to drive 8 hours on arrival day, you can stay the night in Entebbe and start the drive to Bwindi the next morning instead.
Is there WiFi and a restroom on the vehicle during the long drives?
Yes. The air-conditioned vehicle has WiFi on board and a restroom, so you can stay connected and comfortable during the 8-hour drive to Bwindi and the return journey to Entebbe.
