The experience

What makes this different from a ground-based activity is the setup: you start at your hotel, ride to the cable car station, and ascend Tahtalı Mountain to 2,365 meters. The Escape Fast Pass gets you past the cable car queues. At the summit, a licensed tandem pilot (someone with more than 30 years of aviation experience) fits you into a certified flying suit and sport shoes, walks you through a safety briefing, and launches you both from the mountain into the air above the Beydağları Coastal National Park.

The flight itself runs 25–40 minutes. You're tethered to the pilot in a two-person harness, so there's no piloting to learn. Your job is to stay still and look. Below you pass over Olympos and Çıralı, the ruins of Phaselis, Pirate's Bay, the Three Islands and the Mediterranean stretching to the horizon. The Taurus Mountains rise behind. Real-time weather monitoring and dedicated weather stations at both the takeoff and landing zones mean the flight only happens when conditions are safe. If weather shifts, the crew reschedules you.

Landing is on a beach near Tekirova: a smooth touchdown on sand, not a scramble down a mountainside. After you touch down, a transfer takes you back to your hotel or the cable car station. The whole experience, from hotel pickup to return, runs about three hours. Coffee or tea is included while you wait or debrief.
