The activity starts with pickup from your hotel in the early morning, before sunrise. You'll head to the launch site where the balloon is prepared while you watch the crew work. Once aloft, you drift over Pigeon Valley, a 4900-meter stretch of landscape dotted with vineyards and fruit trees, where the soft tufa cliffs are honeycomb with dovecotes carved centuries ago. The fairy chimneys, those cone-shaped rock formations, rise around you as the light changes from dark to gold.

Goreme itself sits at the center of this volcanic terrain, built around a Roman castle complex and surrounded by the same natural rock formations you're floating above. The balloon carries you over the town and the valley in a single arc, so you see how the settlement fits into the landscape. After landing, you're served a breakfast box with coffee or tea while the crew packs the balloon.
