The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your Kusadasi or Selcuk hotel in a fully air-conditioned vehicle. You arrive at Pamukkale to walk barefoot across the white calcium terraces and pools fed by warm spring water—the mineral-rich water has built these formations over centuries, creating the landscape UNESCO lists as a World Heritage site. The guide explains the geology and history as you move through the terraces; many travelers spend time in the thermal pools themselves.
After Pamukkale, the tour moves to Hierapolis, the ancient city built on the plateau above. Hierapolis was evangelized by Paul and Epaphras, and the Apostle Philip lived and was buried here. You visit the Odeon (a small concert hall), the Roman Baths, and the Theatre, which sits on the hillside overlooking the terraces below. The guide walks you through each site and its place in the city's religious and civic life.
The itinerary includes a stop at an onyx workshop, where artisans transform natural onyx stone into decorative pieces using traditional and modern techniques. Lunch is provided during the day. The tour ends with return transfer to your hotel. If you're staying in Ozdere or Guzelcamli, an extra €20 per person applies to cover the longer transfer distance.

Is this one for you?The tour runs a full 9 to 10 hours with walking across the terraces and through the ruins, so it suits travelers with a morning start and a full day to spend. Small group size keeps the pace manageable and the guide's attention personal, which matters if you want to understand the history and geology rather than move quickly through the sites.

Can I walk in the pools at Pamukkale, or just look at the terraces?
You walk barefoot across the white calcium terraces and can enter the thermal pools as part of the tour. Bring a towel or swimsuit if you want to spend time in the water.
What is Hierapolis and why is it next to Pamukkale?
Hierapolis is an ancient Roman city built on the plateau above Pamukkale. The warm springs that created the white terraces below also supplied the city with water, making it a significant settlement for over two thousand years. You visit the Theatre, Odeon and Roman Baths.
Is the Pamukkale entrance fee included in the tour price?
The Pamukkale entrance fee (€30) is not included and is paid directly to the guide on the day of the tour. Cleopatra's Pool, a separate thermal pool site, costs 600 TRY and is optional.
How long is the tour and what is the pace like?
The tour runs 9 to 10 hours from hotel pickup to return. It suits all fitness levels, though you will walk across the terraces and through the Hierapolis ruins, so comfortable shoes (which you remove for Pamukkale) and water are recommended.
What does lunch include, and are drinks provided?
Lunch is included in the tour. Drinks are not included, so bring water or purchase beverages during the day.
Is there a stop at the onyx workshop, and do I have to buy anything?
Yes, the tour includes a stop at an onyx factory where artisans demonstrate traditional stone work. There is no obligation to purchase; it is a demonstration and shopping opportunity.
