The tour starts at the House of the Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage site where Mary is believed to have spent her final years after arriving with Saint John. The visit takes about 45 minutes, then a short drive brings you to Ephesus itself. This ancient city was one of the seven Churches of Revelation and a major center during the Hellenistic, Roman and early Christian periods — Apostle Paul spent roughly two and a half years here during his missionary work.

In Ephesus, you'll walk the marble streets for two hours with your guide, moving through the ruins on foot. The route covers the Odeon, State Agora, Prytaneion, Memmius Monument, Domitian Temple, Hercules Gate, Curetes Street, Hadrian Temple and the Latrines. You'll pass the Celsus Library, Marble Road, Commercial Agora and the Great Theatre, ending at the Arcadiane (the ancient harbour road). The Terrace Houses — private residences sometimes called the brothel — can be added for an extra fee if you arrange it with your guide beforehand.

After Ephesus, the tour moves to the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of antiquity. This stop gives you the best angle to photograph the Basilica of St. John and the Isa Bey Mosque together. The Basilica stands over the burial site of St. John the Evangelist and was built by Emperor Justinian in the 6th century. The Isa Bey Mosque, constructed in the late 14th century, is one of the finest examples of late Seljuk architecture and reflects the power of the Aydinoglu Beylik dynasty.
