The experience

Your day starts with pickup from your Istanbul hotel and transfer to the airport for a direct flight to Izmir. Once you land, a local guide meets you and the group travels by minibus to Ephesus. The ancient city sprawls across hillsides and valleys. You'll walk the marble streets where the Celsus Library still stands, its ornate facade one of the most photographed ruins in the world, and visit the Great Theatre where St. Paul once preached. The Terrace Houses show how the city's wealthy lived, their walls still decorated with mosaics and frescoes.

From Ephesus, the tour moves to five other sites that shaped the region's spiritual and political history. The House of the Virgin Mary sits on a forested hillside and has drawn pilgrims for centuries, believed to be where Mary spent her final years. The Temple of Artemis is now a single column rising from a field, but it once ranked among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Isa Bey Mosque, built in 1375, shows the shift to Islamic rule: its stonework and courtyards remain quiet and intact.
