The Experience

The day starts before dawn. A driver picks you up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and brings you to the launch site, where the balloon is being prepared. Once you're briefed and settled into the basket, the balloon lifts off as the sky begins to change color. For the next hour, you drift with the wind over the landscape—green hills, flower fields, and the distinctive stone formations of the Fairy Chimneys spread below you like a map. The sunrise happens around you, not above you, and the scale of what you're seeing shifts the longer you stay aloft.

The balloon holds up to 28 people, so you're sharing the basket with other travelers. A guide travels with the group and speaks English or Turkish throughout the flight. A light breakfast of snacks waits at the launch site before takeoff, and once you land, a non-alcoholic champagne toast marks the end of the flight.
