The experience

The tour runs in one of eight vintage cars: a 1964 or 1961 open red Impala, a 1975 open green Buick Regal or open red Malibu, or a closed Mercedes 200, Opel Cabriolet, Buick Regal or Chevrolet Belair from the 1960s and 1970s. You pick the departure time (sunrise, sunset, or any hour during the day), and the driver collects you from your hotel and brings you back when the two hours are done.

The route begins at the balloon launch area, where you watch the hot air balloons inflate and lift off. Most visitors spend this time photographing the activity from ground level. From there, the car heads to Love Valley, where the balloons are already airborne and visible against the rock landscape. The final stop is Goreme's viewpoint, a high vantage looking out over the town's fairy chimneys and the valley floor. An English-speaking driver narrates the route and handles all the driving.

What do I actually see from the car at the balloon launch?

The balloon launch area is where the hot air balloons are being prepared and taking off. You watch from the car as they inflate and lift into the air, and you can photograph them during this process before the tour moves on to the next stop.

Can I ride in an open-top car, or are all the vehicles closed?

Four of the eight cars are open-top: two 1960s red Impalas, a 1975 green Buick Regal, and a 1975 red Malibu. The other four are closed vehicles. You choose which car appeals to you when you book.

How does the sunrise tour work if I'm staying outside Goreme?

The driver picks you up from your hotel, wherever it is in the area, and brings you back after the tour ends. The pickup is included in the price, so you don't arrange separate transport to the launch site.

What is Rose Valley, and do we stop there?
