The afternoon pushes deeper into the canyons of Tamerza before heading into the sand dunes by 4x4 to watch the sunset at the Star Wars film set. Day two begins with breakfast and a walk through Tozeur's old medina, one of Tunisia's best-preserved old towns, ringed by a stone wall and built with the region's distinctive brick. You then head south toward Douz, the desert's gateway, where camel rides and quad bikes are available as add-ons. The route continues to Matmata, a troglodyte village where homes are dug underground into the earth. You visit a family home and eat lunch with them, experiencing how locals have lived for centuries. A final stop in the Berber village of Toujane, founded in the 12th century and set 25 kilometers south, rounds out the tour with a photo break before the return to Djerba.
