The experience

The boat stops at nine snorkel sites across the Ko Lipe islands, each chosen for a different reef type or marine life. Koh Pai, known locally as Koh Bulu, is where orange clownfish appear. Ao Kamnan holds the coral garden locals call Nemo Village, where soft corals shelter clownfish inside the structure itself. Behind Hin Ngam has the day's deepest corals: soft varieties and staghorn formations. Koh Yang sits in clear water over hard corals like brain and leaf coral. Between the reef stops, the boat passes four viewpoint islands: Koh Hin Sorn with its two-layer rock formation, Koh Ro Kroy for the water clarity, Koh Hin Ngam for the black stone beach, and Koh Rawi where you eat lunch and rest on protected national park sand.

Seven hours total means you're in the water for multiple sessions with breaks between. Lunch (chicken fried rice with eggs or vegetable fried rice) happens on Koh Rawi. The boat provides mask, snorkel, fins and life jacket. You bring nothing but a towel and sunscreen. Watermelon or pineapple and bottled water come with the day. A guide speaks English or Chinese throughout, though the national park entrance fee of 200 baht is not included and you pay it separately on arrival.

Is this one for you?Seven hours is a full morning and afternoon commitment, which means you can't combine this with other activities the same day, but it gives you time to visit nine different reefs without feeling rushed between stops. The shared longtail boat keeps the cost down and puts you with other snorkelers, so if you prefer privacy or a faster pace, a private charter would suit you better.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Chinese.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What's the difference between Nemo Village and the other snorkel spots around Ko Lipe?

Nemo Village at Ao Kamnan is a soft coral garden where clownfish live inside the coral structure itself, not just around it. Most other stops (Koh Pai, Koh Yang, Behind Hin Ngam) have different coral types (hard corals, staghorn, brain coral) or different marine life, so each reef has its own reason to visit.

Do I need to bring my own snorkel gear or is it provided?

Mask, snorkel, fins and life jacket are all provided. You don't need to bring any equipment. Just bring a towel, sunscreen and a change of clothes.

How much time do I actually spend snorkeling versus traveling between islands?

The full day is seven hours. The itinerary includes nine snorkel stops and four viewpoint islands, so you're moving between sites throughout, but the stops themselves are timed for you to get in the water and see the reefs and fish rather than rush through.

Is lunch included, and what if I have dietary restrictions?

Lunch is included and consists of chicken fried rice with eggs or vegetable fried rice. Watermelon or pineapple and bottled water come with the day. Dietary restrictions should be discussed when you book, as the menu is set.

What's Koh Rawi like, and why do you stop there for lunch?

Koh Rawi is a national park island with soft sand and clear water. It's the rest and lunch stop in the middle of the day: protected by the park, clean, and designed for you to relax and eat before heading back out to the remaining snorkel sites.
