The experience
You start with an introduction to diving safety and basic technique on dry land, then move into shallow water for exercises before you're ready for the reef. This progression (called a Discover Scuba Dive, or DSD) is designed so your body and mind adjust to the underwater environment step by step. Once you've practiced the fundamentals in the shallows, you make two dives on the coral reef itself, where you'll see what the underwater world actually looks like instead of imagining it from a boat.
The day includes hotel pickup, a guide who speaks your language (English, French, Thai or Dutch), all SCUBA equipment, a Thai lunch buffet, and coffee or tea. The whole experience takes about six hours. No diving certification is required. This is the entry point for people who've never strapped on a tank before.
