The Experience

We were already barefoot on Bamboo Island before I’d even realized how fast the DREAM VOYAGER got us there from Phuket. My friend dared me to say “Maya Bay” in Thai—Li laughed so hard when I butchered it that even Nok joined in.

On the way back as sunset started to smudge everything gold, we lounged on deck with plates of pineapple and little cups of sweet tea. The whole day blurred together in a good way—salt still on my skin, hair tangled from the wind—and I kept thinking about those fish under the glass-bottom kayak. It’s funny what sticks with you after a day trip like this.
