You’ll ride up Lamai’s hillside by cable car, then zipline high above palm trees with views over Koh Samui’s coastline. Afterward, relax at the viewpoint bar or try a ticklish fish spa massage near Valentine Stone. Expect laughter, local flavors, and plenty of moments that stick with you long after you leave.
We started by climbing up from the reception — just a short walk but I was already sweating (Samui humidity is no joke). The staff handed us our tickets and pointed us toward the cable car. It’s not fancy, more like a little open-air lift that rattles as it pulls you up through the palms. I could smell grilled chicken drifting up from somewhere below, and there was this weird mix of excitement and nerves in my stomach. Our guide, Nok, grinned at us and said something about “flying like monkeys.” I laughed but honestly felt a bit shaky.
The view from the top hits you all at once — Lamai coastline stretching out, blue haze over the hills. We didn’t linger long before Nok clipped us into our harnesses for the zipline. The first launch is wild: you’re 80 meters up, wind in your face, palms rushing by underneath. My hands were clammy on the handles (I’m not usually scared of heights but this felt different). You glide across to another station on the opposite mountain — it’s 440 meters but goes fast, maybe too fast? Nok shouted encouragement from behind; I think he does this every day and still gets a kick out of it.
After zipping back to the main viewpoint, we just sat for a while at the bar. Cold Chang beer never tasted better. There were locals chatting nearby, someone playing with their dog under a table. The air smelled like wet leaves after a quick rain shower — classic Samui weather, changes every hour. We wandered down to try the fish spa (I’m ticklish so it was mostly me giggling with my feet in the water). There’s this odd heart-shaped rock called Valentine Stone right next to it; Nok insisted we take a selfie together even though my hair was all over the place from the helmet.
