The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel on either Koh Yao Noi or Koh Yao Yai between 9 and 9:30 am, then a short ride to the pier. You board a traditional long-tail boat and head out to Hong Island, part of Koh Hong Krabi National Park. The boat stops at five islands over the next few hours: Hong Island itself, where you snorkel and climb to the viewpoint; La Ding Island, known for its fish and coral; Ka Island, with its own reef and views; Rai Island, where you can see monkeys; and Pak Bia Island for a final swim. Each stop is a jump-in snorkel, not a guided walk on land. You're in the water most of the time.

Snorkeling gear comes with you, so you don't rent separately. The boat crew handles the route and timing. Lunch is a packed box served on board, along with seasonal fruit and drinking water. By 2 pm you're back on the long-tail heading to your hotel, arriving by mid-afternoon. The whole trip runs about five hours from pickup to drop-off.
