From there the trek moves to Kilometer 33, known locally as Nong Park Chi, a two-hour walk that passes an observation tower and moves through habitat where wildlife actually lives. Midday brings a traditional Thai lunch at a local restaurant inside the park, a break that sits naturally in the rhythm of the day. After eating, the group visits the Khao Yai National Park Visitor Center at the park headquarters, not a quick photo stop, but a place with information and interpretive facilities that explain what you have just walked through and what the forest actually is. The final stop is Haew Suwat Waterfall, the one made famous in the film The Beach. There is no swimming (the waterfall is off limits), but there are shaded spots under trees and large rocks to sit on while the water moves.
