The Experience

The tour leaves from your hotel in Chiang Mai and heads to Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain and one of the country's most visited national parks. The park is known for waterfalls, remote villages, montane farms and viewpoints, and the air stays cool at the higher elevations no matter the season. Your guide navigates the stops and handles the timing, so the day holds together without you building it yourself.

The itinerary includes the twin pagodas—Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Phra Mahathat Naphapholphumisiri—set in lush gardens about 3 kilometers below the summit. These stupas were built by the Royal Thai Air Force in 1989 and 1992 to commemorate the king's and queen's 60th birthdays. You'll also visit a Karen Hill Tribe Village and see one of the park's waterfalls. Lunch is provided during the day, and the air-conditioned vehicle handles the driving between stops.

The terrain and walking require at least a moderate level of fitness. Even at elevation, the weather can shift, so pack a light jacket or sweater alongside your regular clothes. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you just need to provide your hotel name and address when you book.
