The experience

The zipline at Phoenix Adventure Park in Mae Rim spreads across 24 platforms strung through jungle canopy, and the longest line runs 200 meters: long enough that you feel the speed, short enough that you're not terrified. The whole experience takes about an hour, and it includes tree abseiling and a canopy walk on top of the zipping itself. The platforms vary in height and distance, so there's a rhythm to it: clip in, step off, glide, land, catch your breath, move to the next one. After you come down from the canopy, the day shifts. You drive to a Karen Long Neck Tribe village in the hills outside Chiang Mai, where families live much as they have for generations: the women wear brass coils around their necks, and the village itself feels less like a museum and more like a place where people actually live and work. Then you head to the Sticky Waterfall, which gets its name from the mineral deposits on the rocks.
