A 3-day PADI Open Water Diver Course in Ko Pha Ngan combines five pool dives to master the basics with four open water dives at Sail Rock, the region's best dive site. You'll earn your lifetime PADI certification, complete online knowledge development, and receive all equipment and learning materials. Resort transfers are included. A taxi fee applies if you're staying in Thong Nai Pan.

The Experience

The course runs three days and splits into two phases. You start with knowledge development you complete independently, then move into five confined water dives at the on-site pool where you learn the fundamental scuba skills: how to breathe underwater, control buoyancy, clear your mask, and handle the equipment. Once you're comfortable in the pool, you're ready for the open water.

The four open water dives happen at Sail Rock, where you put those skills to work on a real reef. This is where the certification becomes real: you're diving the best site in the area, not a training ground. All required dive equipment is provided, and your guide speaks English, Italian or Thai depending on the group. The course ends with your PADI Open Water Diver Certification: a card that's valid worldwide and opens up dive sites everywhere you travel after this.

Resort transfers are arranged for you. If you're staying in Thong Nai Pan, you'll cover a taxi fee separately. Bottled water, coffee and tea are included throughout the three days. You need to be at least 10 years old, in good physical health with adequate swimming ability to start.

The five pool dives teach you the skills you need in a controlled setting where you can practice without the variables of a real reef. The four open water dives at Sail Rock let you apply those skills on an actual dive site with a guide watching over you, and they count toward your certification.

Do I need diving experience before I sign up for this course?

No, this is the PADI Open Water Course for beginners. You just need to be at least 10 years old, in good physical health, and able to swim. The course teaches you everything from the start.

What happens if I'm staying in Thong Nai Pan? How do transfers work?

Resort transfers are included for most areas of Ko Pha Ngan, but if you're in Thong Nai Pan you'll pay a taxi fee to reach the dive center. No transfers are provided to Haad Yuan or Haad Tien.

Will I have my certification card by the end of the three days?

Yes, you'll complete your PADI Open Water Diver Certification during the course. The card is valid worldwide and lets you dive independently at any site that accepts PADI-certified divers once you finish.

What equipment do I need to bring, or is it all provided?

All required dive equipment is provided: tanks, regulators, wetsuits, fins and everything else you need. Bring a swimsuit and towel. The dive center supplies the rest.
