A picnic lunch happens en route, and you keep moving toward Mandara Hut: the first established stop on any full Kilimanjaro climb.

Once you reach Mandara Hut, you rest for 30 to 45 minutes before beginning the descent back to the Main Gate. The whole outing runs about 10 hours from start to finish. Your driver meets you at the gate and drives you back to your hotel with cold or warm Kilimanjaro beer: a small ritual that marks the end of the day. Bring a non-disposable water bottle. Hiking poles, water and lunch are provided.
