- Hike to Marangu Waterfalls
- Explore Chagga caves
- Learn coffee production process
- Meet local banana beer brewers
- Relax and swim at Kikuletwa Hot Springs

The experience
The day starts with a two-hour drive from Arusha to Maji Moto, passing through local markets and farmland before you reach the trailhead. The hike to Marangu's waterfalls (Ndoro and Monjo are the most visited) is short enough to fit into a full itinerary, though the trail gets slippery, so good hiking shoes matter. The water runs clear and cold, and the walk itself offers views toward Kilimanjaro when the clouds clear.
Between the waterfall hike and the hot springs, you'll stop at a local coffee farm to learn the whole process: picking the beans, roasting them over fire, grinding by hand, and brewing your own cup of organic coffee. You'll also meet local Chagga brewers who make banana beer, a traditional drink of the region. The Chagga caves are available as part of the same route if you want to explore the cave system instead of or alongside the coffee stop.
The day ends at Kikuletwa Hot Springs, where the water stays pleasantly warm year-round. You'll have time to soak, use the rope swing, and rest in the shade of the trees. Lunch and drinks (both soft and alcoholic beverages) are included, served during the day as you move between stops. Your guide speaks English and travels with you throughout, and the entire route is covered by private transportation, so there's no switching between vehicles or meeting other groups.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (16 to 17 years); Child (3 to 15 years); Infant (under 3).
What are the Marangu Waterfalls like to hike?
The Ndoro and Monjo waterfalls are the two most popular in the Marangu area, and the hike to reach them is short enough to combine with other activities in a single day. The trail does get slippery, especially after rain, so sturdy hiking shoes are essential. The water is cold and clear when you arrive.
Will I get to see Mount Kilimanjaro on this tour?
There are good chances of seeing Kilimanjaro from the Kilimanjaro region during the drive and hike, though visibility depends on cloud cover. The scenic drive from Arusha passes through local farmland and markets, and the higher elevations of the waterfall trail offer views when conditions allow.
How does the coffee tour work?
You'll visit a local coffee farm and learn the entire production process: picking the beans from the plant, roasting them, grinding by hand, and brewing your own cup. The coffee is organic and grown locally, and you'll drink what you make.
What is Kikuletwa Hot Springs like?
Kikuletwa's waters stay warm year-round and are clear enough for swimming. The site has a rope swing, shaded areas under trees, and space to relax between activities. You'll have time to soak and swim as part of the day's itinerary.
What's included in the price?
Private transportation from Arusha, entry to both Kikuletwa Hot Springs and Marangu Waterfalls, lunch, bottled water, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages are all included. Your English-speaking guide travels with you the entire day.
