The experience
The tour starts with pickup from Kilimanjaro International Airport and a road transfer to Arusha, the base town beneath Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, the route moves through four parks over six days of game drives, each one built around what lives there. Tarangire is a woodland of baobab trees and the fourth stop on Tanzania's northern circuit, known for its vast elephant herds alongside zebra, impala, gazelle, big cats and rare species like oryx and gerenuk, plus tree-climbing lions if you're watching carefully. Morning and late afternoon drives let you rest at the lodge between them.
The Serengeti takes two days. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most famous game reserve in the world, an expanse of grass plains where more than a million wildebeest and zebras move through in migration. The second day focuses on the central Serengeti, tracking big cats and their prey. From there you head to the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning for a full day of game drive inside the caldera itself: the largest intact volcanic crater on earth and a natural sanctuary where the enclosed landscape has created its own ecosystem. The density of large mammals here is among the highest in Africa.
Day six takes you to Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe people, a nomadic tribe of hunters and gatherers who live in the Great Rift Valley and depend on foraging and hunting small game to survive. The Hadzabe are one of the only tribes in Tanzania that still maintain a completely traditional culture, so the visit offers a rare glimpse into the lives of real bush people. After breakfast on the final morning, you transfer back to the airport for your flight home.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 15 years); Child (2 to 5 years); Infant (under 2): free.
What animals will I see on a 7-day safari through Tanzania's northern parks?
The four parks hold different concentrations. Tarangire is famous for massive elephant herds, plus zebra, impala, gazelle, big cats and rare species like oryx and gerenuk. The Serengeti supports one of the world's greatest concentrations of wildlife, including the wildebeest migration of over a million animals. Ngorongoro Crater has some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa and offers reliable sightings of the Big 5: elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard. Lake Eyasi is where you meet the Hadzabe people rather than track large game.
How much time do I spend actually driving and looking for wildlife each day?
Game drives happen in the morning and late afternoon on most days, with time to rest at the lodge between them. Tarangire runs two drives per day. The Serengeti gets two full days of exploration. Ngorongoro is a full day of game drive inside the crater itself. Lake Eyasi is a cultural visit rather than a game drive day.
What is the Ngorongoro Crater and why is it special for safari?
Ngorongoro is the largest intact volcanic caldera on earth, located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Its enclosed nature has created its own ecosystem, trapping some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa inside the crater walls. A full day of game drive lets you explore this natural sanctuary and watch wildlife in a landscape unlike anywhere else on the circuit.
Who are the Hadzabe and what does a visit to Lake Eyasi involve?
The Hadzabe are one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Tanzania, living a nomadic life around Lake Eyasi in the Great Rift Valley. They depend on foraging for plants and hunting small game such as squirrels to survive. A visit offers a rare glimpse into the lives of real bush people who maintain a completely traditional culture: one of the only tribes in Tanzania still living this way.
What lodges will I stay in during the 7 days?
Accommodations vary by night: Pazuri Inn in Arusha on arrival, Eileens Tree Inn in Tarangire, Osinon Tented Lodge for both nights in the Serengeti, Kankari Lodge at Ngorongoro, and Pazuri Inn again at Lake Eyasi before departure. All lodging is included in the tour price.
