The experience

Dongmen Market is where Taipei residents buy their dinner. You'll see the lines forming at the popular stalls (scallion pancakes, rice vermicelli soup, Taiwanese minced pork rice), and watch how the market works before moving on. The guide walks you through, pointing out what locals actually choose, not what the guidebook says tourists should eat.

Yongkang Street is the next stop, and it's the reason this street shows up in every travel guide about Taipei food. You walk the length of it, seeing the mix of tourists with their books and locals who know exactly where they're going. Lunch is included here at one of three Michelin-recommended spots: Din Tai Fung, Yongkang Beef Noodles, or Hao Kung Tao Chin Chi Yuan. After eating, you have time to stroll and see what else the street offers (hand-shaved noodles, mango shaved ice, other specialties), before heading to the metro.

The MRT takes you past Taipei 101 (you'll see it from the station, the observation deck costs extra if you want to go up), then to Song Shan Station, a major hub with its own shopping and food options. From there it's a five- to eight-minute walk to Raohe Street Night Market, where the real eating happens after dark. Oyster omelets, beef noodle soup, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, bubble tea. The market is set up so you can try things as you walk. One cup of bubble milk tea per person is included. Everything else you buy with the cash you bring.

What’s included

  • A one-day Taipei MRT pass for all metro rides.
  • lunch at a Michelin-recommended restaurant on Yongkang Street (Din Tai Fung, Yongkang Beef Noodles, or Hao Kung Tao Chin Chi Yuan).
  • one cup of bubble milk tea per person at Raohe Night Market.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Chinese.

What is Dongmen Market like when you first arrive?

Dongmen Market is a traditional market in southwest Taipei where locals line up at popular food stalls selling fresh ingredients and ready-to-eat dishes like scallion pancakes, rice vermicelli soup, and Taiwanese minced pork rice. Your guide walks you through to show you how the market operates and what residents actually buy.

Is lunch at Yongkang Street included in the tour price?

Yes, lunch is included at one of three Michelin-recommended restaurants on Yongkang Street: Din Tai Fung, Yongkang Beef Noodles, or Hao Kung Tao Chin Chi Yuan. You eat at whichever one the tour operator assigns, and the meal is covered in the tour price.

Do I need to buy a separate ticket for the Taipei MRT?

No, a one-day Taipei MRT pass is included in the tour, so you don't need to buy individual tickets for the metro rides between Dongmen, Yongkang Street, Taipei 101, and Raohe Night Market.

What should I bring to Raohe Night Market?

Bring enough cash to cover snacks, drinks, and souvenirs at the night market, since most eateries and convenience stores in Taiwan don't accept credit cards. One cup of bubble milk tea per person is included, but anything else you want to try you'll pay for with cash.

Can I visit the Taipei 101 observation deck during the tour?

Taipei 101 is a stop on the tour where you see the building and the area around it, but the observation deck entrance ticket is not included. If you want to go up, you'd need to buy a ticket separately and have time to do it on your own.
