Swiss Alps Cooking Class from Zurich: Make Fondue & Chocolate
Cook fondue in the Alps, then taste what you made with local wine
A cooking class in the Swiss Alps near Zurich where you prepare fondue and a homemade dessert, taste regional cheese and chocolate, and hear stories about mountain life—an 8-hour experience with private transport, a Swiss guide in English or German, and all meals and drinks included.
The Experience
The day starts with pickup in Zurich and a drive into the high Alps, where you arrive at a mountain location with panoramic views. A Swiss guide and chef walks you through the day's menu: cheese specialities from a local farm served with fresh bread and fruit; a fondue cooking class where you make the dish together and eat it with regional salami, cold cuts and more bread; and a chocolate tasting followed by a homemade Swiss dessert paired with a Swiss dessert wine. Vegetarian variants and accommodations for food intolerances are built in from the start.
The fondue class is the hands-on center of the day—you're not watching a demonstration but actually cooking it, learning how the cheese melts and how to stir it properly, then eating what you've made. Between the cooking and the tasting, the guide shares stories about life in the mountains and Swiss traditions, grounded in the place itself rather than a script. Everything comes from local producers: the cheese from the farm where you're sitting, the bread baked fresh, the chocolate and wine sourced nearby.
The full day is eight hours from pickup to return. Bottled water is provided throughout, and all meals, snacks and alcoholic beverages are included. The guide speaks English or German. Public transportation options exist nearby if you prefer to meet the group at the mountain location instead of arranging pickup from Zurich.
