The Experience

The reinvented Trolley picks you up at Sihlquai Bus Terminal in central Zurich, and you choose when to start. Once aboard the air-conditioned bus, you tune into the audio guide in your language — English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Arabic or Hindi — and the route unfolds without a guide standing at the front. The commentary runs through the 100-minute loop, feeding you facts and context as the bus moves through the city.

The route crosses Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich's famous shopping street, then heads to Paradeplatz, the banking center, and follows the lake. At Hafen Enge, the bus stops for 10 minutes so you can step out and photograph the panoramic views of snow-capped alpine peaks rising above the water. The tour passes through the old town with its guild houses, then rolls past three major churches — St. Peter, Grossmünster and Fraumünster — before a second 10-minute photo stop near Fraumünster (no entry to the churches themselves). You'll see the university quarter and the residential hillside of Zürichberg, pass the National Museum, and return to Sihlquai after roughly 1.5 to 2 hours.

Wifi is available on board, so you can stay connected during the ride. The bus is suitable for all fitness levels and infants can travel in a pram or stroller, though small children must sit on an adult's lap. This is a sightseeing loop, not a walking tour — you stay on the bus except for the two scheduled photo stops.
