Tandem paragliding in Zermatt pairs you with a fully licensed Swiss pilot for a 20–25 minute flight over the Matterhorn and surrounding 4,000-meter peaks. You wear a helmet, gloves and flight suit. The pilot manages takeoff, flight and landing while you experience the alpine landscape from the air. Weather determines whether you fly from Rothorn, Gornergrat or Riffelberg, and if conditions prevent flight, you reschedule or receive a full refund. The one-way transport ticket to takeoff is not included but your pilot helps you buy it on the day.

The experience

Your pilot meets you at the base and walks through everything before takeoff: how to move in the harness, what to expect in the air, how to land. No paragliding experience is required. The briefing covers what you need to know. All pilots are Swiss-certified and experienced in tandem flying over Zermatt, and they tailor the flight to what you want: a calm scenic glide, an adrenaline run, or time to capture photos and video.

Depending on the season and weather, you launch from Rothorn, Gornergrat or Riffelberg. Once airborne, you're suspended in a harness next to your pilot, watching the Matterhorn and more than 30 surrounding peaks unfold below. The flight lasts 20–25 minutes. On clear days, watch for ibex, chamois, marmots or eagles moving across the slopes.

The whole experience takes about 90 minutes from meeting your pilot to landing. You'll wear a helmet, gloves and a flight suit, all provided. If weather or safety conditions prevent flying that day, your flight reschedules or you get a full refund. Note that the one-way cable car or train ticket to the takeoff point is separate. Your pilot will help you purchase it when you meet, so there's no need to arrange it in advance.

Which takeoff location will I use?

Your takeoff point depends on the season and weather conditions on the day. Rothorn, Gornergrat and Riffelberg each offer different perspectives of Zermatt and the Matterhorn, and your pilot will use whichever location is best for safe flying.

Is the cable car or train ticket to the takeoff point included?

The one-way transport ticket to reach the takeoff location is not included in the flight price. Your pilot will help you purchase the correct ticket when you meet, so you don't need to arrange it beforehand. If you hold a Half Fare Card, SwissPass, Peak Pass or Ski Pass, you may be eligible for discounted or included transportation depending on your pass.

Can I bring a camera or get photos of the flight?

You can bring a camera to capture your own photos during the flight. A photo and video package is also available as an optional add-on for 40 CHF per person, which includes professional images and video from your flight.
