The experience

The coach leaves Geneva and follows the Arve river valley for 90 minutes into Chamonix, the most famous mountain resort in France. From anywhere in town, Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe, fills the skyline. The glass roof lets you watch the Alps close in as you climb. Skip-the-line tickets are included, so you move straight through entry points without waiting.

The cable car to Aiguille du Midi climbs to 3,842 meters, where on a clear day you can see the Matterhorn and the peaks of three countries at once. The Glass Box (a transparent floor suspended over the drop) is optional but unmissable if heights don't unsettle you. Alternatively, the Montenvers Railway takes you to Mer de Glace, a glacier 7 kilometers long and nearly a mile wide, ringed by summits like Les Drus and Les Grandes Jorasses. You can walk down 500 steps into the Ice Caves carved beneath the glacier, or sit in the mountain cafeteria and watch the ice.

The tour runs about 10 hours door to door. A private driver is included. A live guide in English, Spanish or French is optional. Bottle of water comes with the booking. If you add both the cable car and the railway, you'll receive a multipass that covers all Mont Blanc company facilities, but note that using it for one activity means it's considered spent, even if the other site closes that day.
