The experience
What makes this different from a guided tour is the freedom: after a safety briefing and route discussion at the kayak center, the route is yours to plan. You paddle at your own pace through the archipelago's 30,000 islands and rocks, choosing where to stop, which islands to explore and where to pitch your tent each evening. The sea kayaks are stable expedition models built to carry camping gear, so everything you need travels with you: tent, sleeping bag, mattress, cooking system, waterproof bags and navigation tools.
Each day you're on the water exploring, swimming, fishing or sunbathing on the rocks. Evenings you find an island to camp on, cook a meal on the Trangia outdoor stove and sleep under the sky. The operator meets you at the kayak center during open hours (weekdays 10–18, weekends 10–17) and equips you with a single or double kayak depending on your preference, life jacket, paddle, spray skirt, map and compass. A safety briefing covers the essentials, and you discuss the best route options before you depart. From that point forward, the adventure is entirely yours.
You choose your departure date, and the four days can stretch across whatever islands and routes appeal to you. The archipelago's scale, thousands of islands to navigate, means no two trips follow the same path, and the self-guided format lets you linger where you want or move on if conditions change.
