The experience

The boat leaves with a crew that knows the reefs. Tintamarre Island sits inside a French Nature Reserve and holds the clearest water. You'll snorkel there first and see colorful fish, turtles and stingrays on the bottom. After eating, you head to Creole Rock, one of the island's best snorkeling spots, then finish at the beach near Belmond La Samanna where the reefs are healthy and the sand is calm. If the timing works, you'll see planes from Princess Juliana Airport descending or climbing just above the water: low enough that you hear the engines.
