The experience
You board at Port de Plaisance Yacht Club in Cole Bay on the Dutch side of St. Maarten, where the captain and crew brief you on safety and give you a tour of the boat. From there, the catamaran heads across open water toward Anguilla. The route is not fixed: your captain chooses the stops based on the day's weather and sea conditions, so you might anchor at Prickly Pear (a natural paradise with a beach and coral reefs), or at Sandy Island with its white sand and translucent waters, or at Meads Bay or Shoal Bay, both known for their silky sand and turquoise shallows. You decide how much time to spend in the water and how much to stay aboard.
The boat carries two paddleboards, snorkeling equipment, and a floating lily pad mat. A reef-safe sunscreen station and towels are available all day. The galley serves a breakfast of fresh fruit, artisanal cheese and French pastries as you sail, then a midday lunch of barbecued skewers, fresh salads and homemade cookies with locally made ice cream. The bar runs all day with craft cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, prosecco and soft drinks, and transitions to happy hour hors d'oeuvres (homemade hummus, crudités, pita and rice crackers) as you head back. The return crosses Simpson Bay Bridge, where you wave to onlookers before docking back at Port de Plaisance. The whole day runs about nine and a half hours.
The captain and crew speak English and German. Infant, child, youth and adult personal flotation devices are on board. The boat has a restroom. Service animals are welcome, and the experience suits all fitness levels. Public transportation is available near the dock if you need it.
