Horseback Riding St. Lucia: Historic Ruins & Beach
Ride past sugar mills and into the sea on the same afternoon
A horseback riding tour through St. Lucia's interior and coast, led by a guide in English, takes you through historic ruins, rain forests, banana plantations and savanna before ending with a swim at the beach. The tour runs 1 to 2 hours and includes private transport from your hotel, water, snacks and refreshments; horses are trained for all riding levels and children from age 5 are welcome.
Step-by-step itinerary
Horseback riding through nature and history
- Ride through historic ruins
- Explore rain forests and savanna
- Visit banana plantations
- Observe local wildlife
- Drink fresh coconut water
- Swim with horses at beach
- Enjoy refreshments and drinks
The Experience
The ride starts with pickup from your hotel and moves through St. Lucia's landscape on well-trained horses suited to beginners and experienced riders alike. You'll pass through historic ruins and an old sugar mill, then into banana plantations and rain forests where the guide explains how the island's early people lived and worked. The route crosses savanna and mangrove swamps, and along the way you stop to sip freshly picked coconut straight from the source.
The final stop is the beach, where you swim with the horses—the only part of the day where you're in the water instead of the saddle. Refreshments and drinks are provided throughout, and the whole outing runs between 1 and 2 hours. A guide rides with you the entire time, speaking English, so you're not navigating alone or figuring out the history as you go.
What’s included
- Private hotel pickup and drop-off.
- riding helmet.
- bottled water and snacks throughout the ride.
- refreshments and drinks at the end of the tour.
