The Experience
Three hours is enough to cover the hike, the views and the water. A driver picks you up from locations in the north of the island and gives you a brief history of the surrounding areas on the way to Pigeon Island. Once at the park, a guide meets you at the entrance if one is available; if not, you walk the trail at your own pace, reading the information posted along the way. Either way, the route leads you up to the fort at the top.
From the summit, the panoramic views reach as far as you can see—Gros Islet and its environs spread out below. The climb is suitable for all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. After you descend, the tour moves to the beach, where you get complimentary refreshments and time to swim in the Caribbean Sea and bask in the sun.
Round-trip transportation is included from the north of the island, so you don't arrange your own ride. Bottled water, snacks and juice are provided throughout the morning, and all entrance fees and taxes are already built into the price.
