Step-by-step itinerary
Full-day tour of Nuwara Eliya
- Visit Gem Museum
- Tour Tea Factory and taste tea
- Stop at waterfalls for views
- Relax and boat ride at Gregory Lake
- See Lovers Leap waterfall
- Visit Strawberry Farm
- Return to hotel
The experience
The tour starts with hotel pickup and heads to a gem museum to walk through Sri Lanka's long history with precious stones, seeing mining and polishing at work. From there you move into the tea country: a stop at a working tea factory where you taste several Ceylon tea varieties (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors are among them), and watch how the leaves become what you're drinking. The route itself carries you through mountain scenery with waterfall stops where you can step out and feel the air.
Gregory Lake is the main pause for the day. You can take a boat ride on the water and pick up snacks at the shore, or just sit with the view. On the way back, the tour passes Lovers Leap, a 30-meter waterfall that feeds into Nuwara Eliya's water supply and originates from the streams of Piduruthalagala, the island's highest peak. A stop at a strawberry farm lets you see how the fruit grows and taste it fresh, and the day ends with a return to your hotel.
Round-trip transport is included, so there's no need to arrange a car or navigate between stops. The guide speaks English and travels with the group the whole day. Pickup happens from your hotel, and the itinerary is fixed, which means all the stops fit into one outing without backtracking.

Is this one for you?Choose this tour if you want to understand how Ceylon tea is made and taste it fresh from the source, rather than buying it packaged. The factory visit and tasting are the core of the day, and the other stops (the lake, the waterfalls, the strawberry farm) build around that focus. The fixed itinerary and included transport mean you don't coordinate multiple bookings or navigate between sites yourself.
