The experience

How do you get to a mountain trek when you don't have a car? This one picks you up from Kandy on the morning of the trek (7:30 AM from your accommodation or a central point), and handles the drive to the trailhead. You stay at Heavens Holiday Resort the night before, so there's no rush to find a hotel or arrange transport on your own. Breakfast and dinner are included both nights, which means you show up, settle in, and the logistics are already sorted.

The trek itself starts around 9:30 AM and climbs toward the Knuckles summit through tea plantations, pygmy forest, and cloud forest, with grassland plateaus opening up views across the jungle. The trail passes streams with endemic birds and freshwater wildlife. Around 1 PM you stop for a picnic lunch, then walk back down to where the vehicle waits. The whole trek takes about five hours on the mountain. You're back in Kandy by 5 or 6 PM and return to the resort for your second night.

Your guide speaks English or French and has over three years of trekking experience in these mountains. Mineral water is provided during the trek, and children from age five are welcome. The package includes all entrance fees, private transportation both days, and the guiding fee. Nothing extra to arrange once you've booked.
