The experience

The first thing I remember is the pop of champagne as we stepped onto the Beneteau Antares 42 in Tenerife. I nearly dropped my bag because I was distracted by the way sunlight bounced off the water. Our captain, Miguel, greeted us with this big grin and handed over a glass (real glass, not plastic). The harbor was busy but somehow it felt like we were already somewhere else. There was a salty breeze and someone’s sunscreen mixed with the smell of jamón from the galley.
