The Experience

The day starts high. Teide National Park sits at altitude where the landscape turns volcanic—cones, craters, lava fields and rock formations rise around you, and the endemic plants and animals exist nowhere else on earth. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the stratovolcano itself, at 3,718 metres, is the highest peak in Spain. You spend the morning here, taking in the scale and the geological story the ground tells.

Then you descend directly down La Orotava Valley toward the coast, heading to Monje Winery in El Sauzal. The winery sits at 600 metres above sea level on steep terrain where the vines are tended by hand—mechanical cultivation is not possible on this slope. A guided walk takes you through the vineyards and into the cellar to see how the wine is made, moving through the production process with someone who knows it. The guide is in English or Spanish, whichever you choose.

Lunch happens on the winery's terrace with views back across the valley. The menu draws from Canary Island cuisine, and each course comes with a different wine from the winery's own varieties—Listán Negro, Listán Blanco, Negramoll and others grown on the same steep ground you just walked. Three wines paired through the meal. Transport throughout is in a Mercedes EQV, a 100% electric luxury vehicle, and the whole day runs 7 to 8 hours. The tour is private to your group alone, and your guide is a licensed professional.
