The experience
The ferry leaves Tarifa in the morning and crosses the Strait of Gibraltar in under an hour. Once in Tangier, you travel in a private air-conditioned minivan with a Ministry-approved guide who speaks English or Spanish. The day unfolds around five main stops: the Mohammed V Mosque in the new city, Cape Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, Achakkar Beach for the camel ride, the Caves of Hercules with its sea entrance shaped like Africa, and the Tangier Kasbah. A 17th-century palace complex overlooking the city. Your guide handles the route and timing. You decide how long to linger at each place.
The camel ride lasts 30 minutes along the beach. Lunch is a traditional Moroccan meal at a local restaurant, with fresh mint tea included. You'll have time to walk through the Medina's winding streets and browse the souks for spices, crafts, and souvenirs. Complimentary bottled water, coffee, or mint tea is available throughout the day. Optional museum visits and entrance fees (around €3–€8 per site) are available if you want deeper history. The guide can recommend which ones fit your interests. The return ferry departs Tangier in the late afternoon, arriving back in Tarifa after another hour at sea.
Pickup is included. You meet your guide and driver at the Tarifa port before boarding. The entire day runs 8 to 10 hours from start to finish. All surfaces are wheelchair accessible, and the vehicle accommodates strollers and specialized infant seats if needed.
