The Experience

The boat leaves from Panatalán del Castillo de San Jorge on the Guadalquivir, the river that carried Magellan's fleet out to sea centuries ago. For the next hour, you glide beneath five of Seville's major bridges while the audio guide—available in English and Spanish—explains what you're looking at: the Torre del Oro, the defensive tower that once guarded the city's port during the age of exploration; the elegant San Telmo Bridge connecting the historic centre to the colourful Triana district; the area surrounding Plaza de España, one of the city's most famous attractions; and the gardens of María Luisa Park spreading across the riverbank. The boat has air conditioning, so the pace is genuinely relaxed—this is the break from walking that still shows you the landmarks.

Departures run daily at 10am, 11:30am, 1pm, 5pm, 6:30pm, 8pm and 9:30pm (though some dates have exceptions—check the calendar when you book). You'll need to arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. The audio commentary brings the monuments to life without requiring a guide to keep pace with; traditional Andalusian music fills the gaps. Air conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable, and if you want food or drink, the bar onboard sells items—nothing else is permitted. Dogs travel in carriers; there is currently no wheelchair access.
