The experience
The minibus picks you up from your hotel in Tarifa and drives along the Atlantic coast toward the ferry port. Once across to Morocco, you spend the afternoon in Asilah exploring the old medina on foot: the white-walled streets, the Kasbah, and the medieval ramparts that ring the city. The guide takes you to working artist studios and craftsmen's workshops where you can watch people actually making things, not just looking at finished work behind glass.
You walk the oceanside promenade where the Atlantic meets the town, stop to try local Moroccan food at a place the guide knows, and have time on the sandy beaches if the weather holds. The guide speaks your language (English, Spanish, Italian, French or Portuguese), so the stories and history come through clearly, not filtered through translation. Everything is arranged: the ferry crossing, the transport, the lunch. You're back at your hotel or wherever you ask to be dropped by early evening.
