Step-by-step itinerary
Organic vineyard tasting experience

- Walk around vineyard and country house
- Learn about organic cultivation
- Taste 5 organic wines
- Taste 2 organic olive oils
- Enjoy local cheeses, meats, and snacks
The experience
How do you actually taste wine and oil the way locals do? You start at the source. The vineyard sits just under a hectare in the hills above Mijas, facing the sea, and the session begins with a roughly 25-minute walk around the vines and the country house where the Malvajio winery story started. Your guide explains the organic methods used here (no shortcuts, no chemicals), and then you move into the winemaker's courtyard to taste.
The tasting itself runs through 5 organic wines paired with 2 oils the family produces: picual and arbequina, both extra virgin. Alongside them come platters of Ibérico cured meats (salchichón, chorizo, lomo), local Málaga cheese, a homemade Spanish tortilla, olives and snacks. The whole thing takes 2.5 hours and stays small, 16 people maximum, so there's room to ask questions and linger over what you like. Sessions run Monday to Saturday mornings or Monday to Friday evenings, depending on availability.
You meet directly at the vineyard. Transport there isn't included, but the location is accessible by Uber or Bolt and public transport runs nearby. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible. The guide speaks English and is part of the WHT Team. Guests must be 18 or older.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How do I get to the vineyard from Málaga?
The vineyard is in the hills above Mijas and accessible by Uber, Bolt or public transportation. You meet directly at the venue. The operator does not arrange pickup.
What exactly do the 5 wines taste like, and are they all from this vineyard?
All 5 wines are organic and produced at the Malvajio vineyard. The tasting notes and specific varieties are not detailed in advance, but the guide walks you through each one during the session and explains the organic methods used to grow them.
Is this suitable if I don't usually drink wine?
The session is built around tasting, but the focus is on learning how the wines and oils are made rather than on drinking volume. The tapas and cheeses are substantial, and you can taste at your own pace. Groups stay small, 16 maximum, so the guide can adjust to different comfort levels.
What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
The menu includes Iberian cured meats, cheese, Spanish tortilla, olives and snacks. Contact the operator before booking to discuss any allergies or dietary needs. They can advise on what will be served at your session.
