ATV Riding in Mijas Mountains: 2-Hour Buggy Safari with Guide
Dusty mountain tracks, river beds, and views you navigate yourself
A 2-hour buggy safari in the mountains of Mijas where you drive your own vehicle along old trade routes and cattle tracks through almond, olive, lemon and orange groves. The guide leads the way; water, goggles and instruction are included. You'll need a valid driving license and moderate fitness, and should arrive 20 minutes early in suitable footwear.
The Experience
What makes this different from watching scenery pass by is that you're behind the wheel the whole time. You drive your own buggy—a two-seater capacity vehicle—following the guide through the Mijas mountains on routes that aren't paved roads. The itinerary takes you past groves of almond, olive, lemon and orange trees, with stops built in so you can take in the views and photograph the landscape. The terrain shifts between bumpy river beds and dusty mountain tracks, which is why the operator calls it a safari rather than a standard tour.
The activity runs 2 hours total. You'll get dusty—the operator makes that explicit—so wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and bring suitable footwear (no flip-flops or high heels). Water and goggles are supplied. A live guide speaks English, Spanish or French and leads the group through the route. Arrive 20 minutes before the start time, and bring your valid driving license; a provisional one won't work.
The buggy you book is the buggy you drive: if you book one person, you're booking one two-seater buggy (which can carry a second passenger if you bring one). The van with the Rangers Safari Tours logo will pick you up and bring you to the start point, and public transportation options are available nearby if you're arranging your own way there.
What’s included
- Water and goggles.
- live guide in English, Spanish or French.
- use of a two-seater buggy for the 2-hour route through the mountains.
Operated by Rangers Safari Tours
Is this one for you?Book this if you want to drive the terrain yourself rather than sit as a passenger—the guide leads the route, but you're operating the buggy the whole time. The 2-hour length fits a half-day plan without eating into a full day, and the dusty mountain tracks mean you're getting off the coastal tourist circuit.
