The experience
What makes the night sky visible from Menorca different from most places is the Starlight Reserve designation: the island's protected dark skies let you see constellations and deep-space objects that disappear under ordinary light pollution. A certified guide walks you through the constellations visible that particular night, shares the mythological stories behind them (Hercules, Andromeda, Cassiopeia, the Bears, Draco), and teaches you star-hopping techniques so you can navigate the sky yourself. You'll use a telescope to observe open clusters, globular clusters, binary stars and other deep-space objects. On moonlit nights, the guide points out the moon's seas and craters and explains their formation.
The two-hour session wraps with a night photograph taken with the stars in the background. Something to take home. Telescopes are provided, along with blankets to lay down and chairs if you need them. Pets are welcome. You choose your session in English, Spanish, or with a French audio guide, and the guide reflects on humanity's place within the Milky Way and why observing the cosmos has mattered since our beginnings.
