The experience

You're picked up from your hotel and driven to the Es Grau parking lot, where the hike begins. The first leg heads toward the Sa Albufera des Grau Viewpoint, where the entire lagoon spreads out below. The park is a Special Protection Area for birds, and from here you can already spot herons, ducks and waders moving across the water. The guide points out the endemic plant and animal species that make this wetland distinct: pine forests edge the marshes, and turtles and lizards move through the vegetation.

From the viewpoint, the route follows the Camí de Cavalls, an old coastal path that connects the island's coves. You pass near Torre d'Es Colomar, a 16th-century defense tower you can visit up close, then continue to Cala Gominola and Sa Torreta Beach. The walking covers 9 kilometers with a positive slope of 170 meters, and the guide helps you spot bird species and interpret their behavior as you move through different sections of the park. The terrain is medium-easy, and the pace allows for observation without rushing.

At Sa Torreta Beach (also called Cala Rambles), you have time to swim and cool off. Bring a swimsuit and towel. The return follows the same Camí de Cavalls back to Es Grau, completing the loop in around four hours of walking and stops combined. Private transportation returns you to your hotel at the end.
