Alcudia Sunrise Dolphin-Watching Boat Trip in Mallorca
Turn off the engines and watch dolphins play in their natural habitat
This sunrise dolphin-watching boat trip departs from the Port of Alcudia in Mallorca and sails into the bay and beyond to find dolphins in their natural environment. You search for them by water, then cut the engines when they appear so you can watch them swim and jump without disturbance. The trip includes a live guide in English, Spanish, Italian, French and one additional language, plus a buffet breakfast of bread, cheese, ham and pastries with tea or coffee on the return to harbor. If dolphins aren't spotted, you receive a voucher to return any day at no extra cost.
The Experience
The boat leaves the Port of Alcudia at sunrise, so you're on the water as the sun breaks over the horizon and lights up the bay. The catamaran sails out of Alcudia Bay into the open sea where dolphins typically gather. Once the guide spots them, the engines cut and the boat goes quiet—that's when you watch them move through the water, play and jump, often close enough to see their acrobatic skills without the noise of the motor. The distance is kept intentional, so the animals stay undisturbed and you get to see them as they are.
The whole trip runs about three hours. On the way back to harbor, a buffet breakfast appears: bread with cheese and ham, a selection of pastries, and tea or coffee. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and one more language, so communication is straightforward. The sea air in the early morning can be cool, so bring a light windbreaker or hoodie for the sail out.
Weather, wind and sea conditions may shift the itinerary, and the operator notes that if dolphins don't show up, you get a voucher to return another day instead of a refund. Infants can ride in a stroller and sit on an adult's lap; service animals are allowed. Public transportation reaches the Port of Alcudia if you're not driving.
