The Experience

We started rolling along the seafront in La Coruña before I’d even really woken up — you know that feeling when the salt air just hits you? Kids zipped by on scooters, some older folks were playing cards on benches. We ended up at Plaza de Maria Pita — all arches and chatter and pigeons everywhere. Pablo explained who Maria Pita actually was (heroine status well deserved), but honestly I was distracted by the smell of coffee drifting from somewhere nearby. He handed out cold drinks and we just sat for a minute watching people argue about football scores or politics or whatever else Galicians debate on sunny afternoons. I still think about that view back toward the water — not dramatic exactly, just quietly perfect.
