Itálica sits in Santiponce, just outside Seville, and was one of the most important Roman cities in Hispania. Founded in 206 BC, it grew especially under Hadrian, who expanded it into a major centre of the empire. The tour walks you through remarkably preserved streets and houses—including the House of Neptune and the House of the Birds—and past the amphitheatre, one of the largest in the Roman world. The mosaics here are what draw most visitors: intricate floors that survive in place, showing the wealth and craft of Roman society.

After Itálica, the route moves to the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, built in the 14th century and standing a short distance away in the same town.
