Ibiza & Formentera: Private Sailboat Day Trip Bavaria 42
Private sailing from Ibiza to Formentera turquoise coves
You’ll set out from Ibiza aboard a private Bavaria 42 Cruiser with your local skipper, sailing past Es Vedrà toward Formentera’s turquoise coves. Swim or paddle at Ses Illetes, choose between relaxed onboard lunch or waterfront dining, then anchor off S’Espalmador’s wild beaches before drifting home under sunset skies. It’s all about slowing down—and letting the sea do its thing.

The Experience
First thing I noticed was the smell of salt and sunscreen clinging to the deck as we stepped barefoot onto the Bavaria 42 Cruiser in Cala Jondal. Our skipper, Toni, grinned and handed out coffee (he called it “Ibiza rocket fuel”). The boat felt bigger than I expected—sunlight everywhere, cushions already warm. There was this hush before we left the bay, just the slap of water against the hull and someone’s laughter echoing off the rocks. I realized I’d forgotten my worries back at the dock.
The sail toward Formentera was almost too quiet—wind filling the canvas, no engine noise for ages. Toni pointed out Es Vedrà in the distance (“magic rock,” he said, winking). I tried paddle boarding at Ses Illetes but mostly just floated and let the water hold me up. Lunch was a debate: some wanted to try one of those fancy beach restaurants on shore, but we ended up sharing sandwiches on deck because nobody wanted to leave that view. The bread tasted like sun and sea air—maybe that’s just what hunger does after swimming.
S’Espalmador felt like another planet—no buildings, just sand so white it hurt my eyes. We anchored in a cove where you could hear every splash and gull call. Toni told us a little story about pirates hiding there (not sure if he made it up). I took a nap on one of those bow mats and woke up with salt in my hair and no idea what time it was. Later at Sa Caleta, someone found red clay on their feet from climbing around—the color stuck under my nails for days.
The way back to Ibiza was slow, sun dipping behind Es Vedrà. Nobody talked much; we just watched the light change and listened to the boat creak. It’s strange how quickly you get used to moving with nothing but wind and water—makes everything else feel kind of loud afterward.
What’s included
Your day includes all fees and taxes, use of snorkeling equipment and paddle boards (SUP), fuel costs covered by your skipper Toni, plus access to onboard restrooms—so you only need to decide if you want lunch ashore or bring something along yourself before setting sail back toward Ibiza as evening falls.
