The experience

The day starts at Cala Jondal with a 15-minute safety briefing, then you're sailing. The run to Formentera takes an hour and forty-five minutes: long enough to feel the boat settle into the rhythm, short enough that you're already in the water before the morning wears thin. If the wind cooperates, the sails go up and the engine stays off. If not, you motor through calm seas either way. The skipper knows the coast and the anchorages, and the boat carries everything you need: snorkeling gear, a paddle board, a dinghy with a motor, solar panels and a restroom on board.

Ses Illetes comes first: a beach inside the Ses Salines Natural Park with white sand and water so clear it looks borrowed from somewhere else. You can paddle out on the SUP, snorkel the shallows, or wade the shore. Lunch happens here, and you choose how: eat at one of the waterfront restaurants the boat can reach, bring your own and eat on deck, or arrange catering in advance. After Ses Illetes, the skipper takes you to S'Espalmador, a small uninhabited island between Ibiza and Formentera where the water is among the cleanest in the Mediterranean. You anchor in a quiet cove, swim, explore or simply sit on deck and let the day slow down. Sa Caleta comes next: a cove with reddish rocks and pine trees, where the first Phoenicians landed more than 2,600 years ago. It's a place to swim and photograph, or to stand still and imagine.

The return sail to Ibiza runs an hour and closes the day as the sun drops toward the horizon. If the weather holds, Es Vedrà frames the sunset. The kind of light that makes the moment feel complete. By then you've covered Formentera's best anchorages, swum in water most visitors never reach, and spent a full day on the water without arranging a single detail of it.
